Can tourists buy the Beijing Yikatong Card or Beijing Hutong Card? I have read that some people say that this is not possible because they are foreigners, just as they have not been able to buy a single subway ticket because they need an ID number.
Is there any unlimited daily subway pass for Xi’an, Beijing and Shanghai cities? Where can I buy it?
    Thanks

    • Ricky

Yes, tourists, including foreigners, can buy the Beijing Yikatong Card. There are two types: registered and non-registered. You can simply purchase these at station windows. A deposit of 20 RMB is required, which you can get back along with any remaining balance by returning the card to designated locations shown in the guide images.

Additionally, since June 1, Beijing subway stations are equipped with POS machines where foreign bank cards are accepted, making it easier for international visitors to pay for tickets. This service is available across 335 stations on 17 lines. The BEIJING PASS, a special card for foreign tourists, will also be sold at major train stations and airports soon.

As for unlimited daily subway passes for Xi’an, Beijing, and Shanghai, these are not typically available. Each city usually requires you to pay per trip or load a pre-paid card like the Yikatong.

If you need assistance while at the station, feel free to ask the station staff. They are there to help!
